If we weren't reviewing the Acer Chromebook 514 (2022), the words ‘perfectly adequate' would probably feel like we were doing our target laptop down. But this isn't a normal laptop. It's a Chromebook, for a start, which means it gets graded on a very gene...

Acer has been dishing out variants of the mid-range Chromebook CB514-1W for a good few years now, and they’ve generally fallen into two types. The cheaper models have suffered from slow, outdated Intel Celeron processors and poor, low-resolution screens.Th...
+Fast Pentium Gold processor, Decent screen, Comfortable, lightweight design-Loud but tinny audio, Sub-par battery lifeUp to a point, the Chromebook CB514-1W rewrites the rules for mid-range Chromebooks. It's cheap, it looks good, it has excellent connectivity and it's more than fast enough for most purposes and the screen is one of the best I've seen for under £500, too...

To cut right to the chase of this Acer Chromebook 514 review: this isn't the best Chromebook you can buy, nor is it the best laptop under £500, but it is a very very cheap laptop that will be fine to use for less demanding tasks like streaming shows or t...
+14inch HD screen, Lightweight and portable, Decent battery life,-Disappointing performance, No fingerprint sensor, Poor quality webcam,If you're on a tight budget then the Acer Chromebook 514 is ridiculously cheap, but that's not all it has going for it. This laptop is lightweight with a big screen and a sleek silver design. You don't get many different features and it's not very powerfu...

The Acer Chromebook 514 tries to find a gap between the Pixelbook and the dirt-cheap Chromebooks vying for the sub-£300 market, but is that just a recipe for invisibility?Image 2 of 9With that in mind, Acer has attempted to come up with a stylish, feature...
+Wonderful TouchPad and keyboard, Good looks, Premium feel-Weak screen, A processor that was budget in 2016Image 9 of 9I have a lot of time for the Acer Chromebook 514, and – for me – it makes a solid case for ChromeOS. The keyboard and trackpad are wonderful, it looks the part and it has plenty of ports. But you can't overlook its drawbacks: its screen is dist...

+It's lightweight and portable, The battery can charge from empty to 100 in less than an hour and a half, The laptop has four USB ports which will be really useful, It's got a touchscreen,-You'll have less choice in apps as you would on other operating systems, for instance you won't be able to get Photoshop or iTunes, The laptop's casing doesn't feel as premium as other options for this priceAre you looking for an inexpensive laptop ideal for kids and teens?
